Commercial Products verses Residential Products

The question between what is a product manufactured for commercial use verses a product manufactured for residential use? Simple answer is quality. Why not just build everything at commercial grade? Well the cost to the consumer. Say you are shopping for a 3’ X 20’ Aluminum Gangway and you price one at one company for $2400 but then see another from a different company for $1900. Which gangway will get the closer look? The one with the lower price point of course, but buyer beware and read the small print. The cheaper gangway will probably be manufactured for residential use. Meaning the material used is probably not as thick or a lesser grade and the welds are fewer or at less length. Something had to be done to price that gangway for $500 less. .

Manufactures are doing about everything possible to keep their prices to the consumer low so they beat the competition. They shop material, streamline manufacturing processes and eliminate waste. “Lean Manufacturing” So per the example in the paragraph before if you see a $500 difference between two gangways of the same size and type of material, one is probably built with lesser material, fewer welds at less length. And in the small less highlighted section of the product description you will probably find the word residential.

At G & A we use the words Residential and Commercial to describe the areas that we manufacture for. However everything we manufacture is what people would, will and can describe as commercial grade. Our philosophy is to build our products using the best materials using the best manufacturing processes while doing everything possible to keep price points down. Please stay safe everyone.
